The Guinness Storehouse is by far the most popular of tourist destinations on the bus tour ircuit, but it really was worth it. The building was dark and slightly futuristic inside and after you got a lengthy tutorial on how it's made, you got to see the advertising that helped make it so famous. To cap it off, you end the tour at the Gravity Bar at the top of the storehouse where you are handed a creamy draft of the dark stuff. With 360 degree views of Dublin, it was a great spot to take in the city and some of the countryside.
Kilmainham Gaol was a more somber stop on the bus tour as compared to the jovial atmosphere of the Guinness Storehouse. This looming structure was home to many Irish men, women and children and after being inside the cold, clammy walls, I was singing Hallelujah that I had a warm bed to sleep in that night! The walls are made of limestone so it asborbed water and it originally didn't have glass in the windows so it must have been the most miserable place on earth for an inmate.
We capped off the evening with a lovely dinner in the Temple Bar area where I had an awesome curry dinner and more drinks at the Bachelor Inn. This bar was a far cry from the other tourist traps as it was filled with handful of old Irishmen watching soccer on the tele. We proceeded to down several pints for much less money and actually had a place to sit. The perfect Irish dive bar! How much did we drink? Plent :)
