The End. Die Ende. Sfarsit. Ha Sikum. Fin.

PWRFC traveled to Boston this past weekend for Nationals and a shot at the national Championship in San Francisco in November.

Unfortunately, and quite unexpectedly, I developed a sharp pain on the bottom on my foot a few days before we left. I wasn't able to practice the day before we left and I was confident it was just something temporary and would go away on its own. By Saturday it was still pretty painful to run and I ruled myself out of playing on Saturday, much to my extreme sadness and disappointment. I watched from the cold and rainy sidelines as my teammates battled Detroit and came away with a 10-5 win to advance. Yeah for us, but I felt so useless.

Sunday I woke up in a much better mood, but still with a bum foot. Our coach asked a favor and I was seen by a top notch trainer who diagnosed me with plantar fasciitis, an inflammation of the tendon that runs along the bottom of your foot. WTF? How the hell did that happen? The trainer was able to do some taping, massage and stretching that relived some pain and made it bearable. I warmed up for the Atlanta match and patiently waited on the sidelines and watched my team fight tooth and nail for 60 minutes. I then went in for the last 20 minutes, sucked it up and played. The whistle blew, but luck was not on our side. We lost 17-5.

So that's it, the season it over. Not really the blaze of glory I'd had hoped, but what can you do?

PS - BOFOS forever!!!

Plantar is a battle in itself! I was diagnosed about 6 months ago and it is horrible.

Glad to report that through all the stretching and massaging I am pain free now but am paranoid it may return at any moment.

Good to hear! I hope to get to where you are soon. It's so frustrating because it just came out of nowhere, ugh!
