Well, not exactly Hades, but the temperatures would have convinced you otherwise. After a flight delay on Friday, my team and I arrived in Orlando, for our final league match, at 11pm to some unseasonablely warm temps. I believe Lesha so eloquenly described the climate as 'like dirty underwear.' We headed to our outdated hotel next to the corrections facility and got some much needed sleep. We woke up to much of the same weather, 95 degrees with a heat index over 100 degrees, high humidity and a rugby match at 1:30pm, the hottest part of the day. Holla.
Despite the heat, we handled Orlando without too much trouble 24-14. Some highlights include the Orlando coach referring to our coach Lisa as 'sweatheart' (oh no he didn't!), both my roommates colliding and banging heads going for the same tackle and Woj getting all thug on Orlando's hooker and giving her a stern warning to stop whatever she was doing and punctuating this by throwing her on the ground...hard.
After the match was over, we headed back to the airport, was able to get seats on an earlier flight and ate/drank before we took off. Landed in Philly (did I mention we are all a bit, um, ripe after coming straight from the pitch after being in the heat for a few hours?) at 9pm and thus ends our whirlwind trip to Orlando.
